synopsis:

Avion was the final deliverable from my first semester at College for Creative Studies. The goal of this project was to research an industry domain, then find a gap within the industry and create a brand that would fit there. My industry domain was consumer tech. From there, I researched more into the gaming industry which is a subset of consumer tech, where I ended up discovering gaming tech. Through my research, I conducted a user survey to discover what parts of gaming tech were lacking and what users would want to see from the “Accent Wear” part of the industry. Through that survey, I discovered that users felt like their headphones did not let them express themselves as much as they would want to, so I set out to achieve that. Avion is a piece of headwear that I coin “Costume Tech”; technology that is worn for use just as much as for aesthetics. It is designed to be completely customizable with detachable LED accessories that can be any color the user would like. Avion: “a headset as unique as you” was the outcome of this exploration into the consumer tech industry. The project was completed solely by me.

These were part of the initial prototyping phase with Avion. Included are product sketches, UI, CMF landscape layout, and brand logo concepts.

These were the final renders of the Avion Headset. Images include blowout renders of the product in its different color ways, and CMF landscape renders. These were created using a mix of KeyShot, Photoshop, and Cinema 4D.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Throughout this project, there was a lot that I was able to learn. I got more experience in industry domain research as well as trend forecasting, was able to design a product from start to finish, strengthened my CMF decision making, and brand identity creation.
